How we research, score and publish

Every comparison on MoneyHour follows the same process. This page describes it in full so you can judge the work rather than take it on trust.

Category criteria come first

Before we list a single provider, we define what matters in a category and why. Those fields become the columns of the comparison table, so every provider is described using identical measures rather than the highlights each one prefers to advertise.

What we assess

  • Total cost. Rates, fees, and anything that changes the amount paid over the life of the product, normalized so quotes can be compared.
  • Terms and flexibility. Repayment structure, prepayment treatment, contract length, and how easy it is to exit.
  • Access and eligibility. Who realistically qualifies, what documents are required, and how long approval and funding take.
  • Transparency. Whether pricing and conditions are published clearly before an application begins.
  • Service and support. Channels, availability, and the quality of account management after onboarding.

How scores are produced

Each criterion is weighted per category, because the right weighting for a savings account is not the right weighting for equipment finance. Scores are recorded on a 0–10 scale with written reasoning, reviewed by a second researcher, and re-checked when a provider materially changes its terms.

What never affects a score

Compensation, advertising spend, and commercial negotiations have no input into scoring, written analysis, or the pros and cons we publish. Commercial relationships determine only whether a provider is eligible to appear in a labelled sponsored placement. Those placements are always marked, and editorial ordering is always available on the page.

Sources and verification

We rely on provider-published terms, official rate sheets, regulatory filings and documented partner feeds. Where a figure cannot be verified, we omit it rather than estimate. Rates and terms change frequently, so every table carries a note asking you to confirm current details directly with the provider.

Corrections

If something is wrong, we want to fix it quickly. Contact us with the page and the detail in question; corrections to published figures are made as soon as they are verified, and substantive changes are noted on the page.

What we are not

MoneyHour is an independent comparison and information marketplace. We are not a lender, bank, broker, insurer, investment adviser or financial adviser, we do not make credit decisions, and we do not provide personalized financial, legal or tax advice.
